This mural holds the remains of the last standing structure of the last king of the North (Jaffna) King Sankili (1519-1561).

Fragments of the beautiful architecture that is left standing is seen as a historic icon of a by-gone era.

 

The expressionistic human face showcases the beauty and happiness that, I imagine, could have once prevailed within the walls of this beautiful palace. The mismatched nature of these elements represent an echo of what no longer exists in the space that is now dilapidated and abandoned.
