This work explored 'thalam' (rhythm) in the feet of female Jaffna dancers.

Jaffna, the Northern most part of Sri Lanka, is largely home to the Tamil people. Knowledge, culture and language are considered crucibles of Tamil heritage.

 

I wanted to capture the movement and vibrancy of this traditional dance form known as Barathanatyam dance through colour and texture.
